Naples court hears defense in Tufano shooting trial

During a hearing at the Naples Court of Assizes, defense lawyers for the parents of Emanuele Tufano argued that the 15-year-old was an innocent victim who was unaware of a planned armed raid. The trial involves seven defendants accused of the shooting that occurred in Piazza Mercato between October 23 and 24, 2024.

According to the prosecution, the victim was riding a scooter with a group from the Sanità district during a clash with a rival group from the Mercato district. However, defense attorney Carla Maruzzelli presented a 26-page brief stating that surveillance footage and technical findings show the teenager was not armed, did not fire shots, and had no knowledge of the criminal plan or the availability of weapons. The defense maintains his death was the result of others' armed conduct rather than his own participation in the raid.
