Naples court orders Ministry of Education to compensate teacher for precarious work
The Naples Labor Court has ordered the Ministry of Education and Merit to pay €13,808 in compensation to a teacher from Aversa following a long period of precarious employment. The ruling, issued by Judge Amalia Urzini, addresses a case involving over ten years of successive fixed-term contracts.
The court found that from the 2019/2020 academic year through 2024/2025, the teacher held continuous substitute positions for the same subject (Legal-Economic Sciences) at the same institution without valid reasons for temporary replacement. While the claimant requested €41,424 equivalent to 24 months of salary, the judge awarded an indemnity equal to eight months of pay based on a monthly reference salary of €1,726.
