Naples districts and Grisolia confront waste collection failures and illegal dumping

In the Naples districts of Soccavo and Pianura, residents have reported irregular or halted waste collection for about ten days. The heat has worsened the situation, leading to piles of trash, litter on streets, and an increase in flies, rats and other pests. Municipal councilor Giovanna Lo Giudice warned that the lack of service and abandoned green‑area maintenance threatens public health, and urged the city’s waste department and the mayor to intervene urgently.

In Grisolia, activists from Italia Nostra‑Alto Tirreno Cosentino highlighted an illegal dump in Parco Borrelli along the SS18. Abandoned bulky waste has been set on fire, releasing harmful emissions, while a nearby surveillance camera is out of order. The group says the municipality is aware of the problem and is calling for prompt removal of the waste and repair of monitoring equipment to prevent further environmental damage.
