Naples environmental monitoring launched after warehouse fire

Following a major fire in the Nuova delle Brecce area on the eastern outskirts of Naples, the Regional Agency for Environmental Protection (ARPAC) has launched environmental impact assessments. The fire, which affected a warehouse with a partially collapsed roof, likely involved the combustion of plastic components.

In coordination with the Fire Department and ASL Napoli 1 Centro, ARPAC has installed samplers near the site to monitor airborne dioxins. As a precaution while awaiting full analytical results, health authorities have issued several guidelines for local residents and workers. These include avoiding prolonged periods outdoors, keeping windows and ventilation systems closed, and washing fruits and vegetables thoroughly before consumption.
