Naples: Escaped inmate found hiding in wardrobe

Alessio Esposito, a 22-year-old inmate, has been apprehended in Naples after escaping from the Bellizzi Irpino prison. Esposito had been granted a special leave to attend his daughter's baptism but failed to return to the facility on September 16.

Following a search by the Carabinieri of the Giugliano in Campania operational section, authorities located him at his mother's residence in Piazza Mercato. After receiving no response at the door, officers entered the building via a balcony. With the building surrounded to prevent escape, Esposito was found hiding inside a wardrobe.

He has been transferred to the Poggioreale prison in Naples to serve a remaining sentence of three months and two days.
