Naples fires cause telecommunications outages in Amalfi Coast

Two separate fires in Naples, located in Piazza Bovio and the Centro Direzionale area, have caused significant damage to main fiber optic cables. This has resulted in persistent disruptions to landline telephony and broadband/ultra-broadband connectivity across the Amalfi Coast and the municipality of Minori.

FiberCop and Open Fiber have confirmed that the issues are not due to the local network. Technical teams from FiberCop have been on-site since the previous day, awaiting the completion of safety operations by the Fire Brigade to begin restoration work. While technicians are attempting to use alternative network routes to mitigate the impact, full service restoration is expected by Sunday, October 25.
