Fuorigrotta gas leak triggers evacuations in Naples

A gas leak in the Fuorigrotta district of Naples led to the precautionary evacuation of seven families living on via Caravaggio. The evacuation also included an adjacent bar and the Church of the Parish of the Immaculate Conception of Lourdes.

Local authorities closed the intersection of via Caravaggio, via Consalvo, and via Terracina to vehicle traffic to allow for safe inspection and excavation. Italgas reported that the leak occurred accidentally during modernization works on the network.

Technicians worked to locate the leak beneath the road surface. Italgas stated that the dispersion was promptly identified and secured, noting that no damage to people or property occurred and gas service continuity was maintained for all users.
