Naples hosts CalabroPartenopi cultural project to honor Francesco Cilea

The San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples hosted a major cultural event to mark the 160th anniversary of composer Francesco Cilea's birth. The event celebrated the historical, artistic, and musical ties between Calabria and Naples through the debut of the “CalabroPartenopi – La storia che viene da lontano” project.

The program featured three primary components: a concert by the Calabria Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Filippo Arlia, an international forum titled “Francesco Cilea e i calabresi a Napoli: una lunga tradizione,” and the inaugural ceremony of the CalabroPartenopi Prize. The orchestra's performance included Cilea's instrumental repertoire, highlighting his work beyond his famous operas.

Recognitions from the first edition of the CalabroPartenopi Prize were awarded to Cardinal Domenico Battaglia, the Archbishop of Naples, the city of Palmi, and musicians Sergio Messina and Fausto Castiglione.
