Lombardy official warns high energy costs threaten regional production

Lombardy's Regional Assessor for Economic Development, Guido Guidesi, has warned that unsustainable energy costs pose a critical risk to the region's production, investment, and consumption. He characterized the current situation as more severe than the cost overruns experienced five years ago, noting that high prices could lead to a complete halt in industrial activity.

To mitigate these risks, Guidesi has called upon the Italian government and the European Union to implement immediate interventions. His specific requests include increased transparency in energy price calculations, the establishment of regulatory limits on financial speculation affecting prices, and the implementation of a price cap to stabilize the market.

In broader national news, the Meloni government has continued its trend of introducing temporary economic measures, with nearly 30 such 'bonuses' or incentives approved over the last four years, including recent exemptions for vehicle taxes. Meanwhile, in the logistics sector, Deputy Minister Edoardo Rixi confirmed the refinancing of the Marebonus, Sea Shift, and Ferrobonus programs to stabilize national logistics and encourage intermodal transport amid rising fuel costs.
