Naples hosts debate commemorating centennial of Pino Rauti
A large gathering took place at the La Contea study center in Naples to discuss the life and legacy of Pino Rauti, the former secretary of the Movimento Sociale Italiano (MSI), ahead of the centenary of his birth on November 19.
Isabella Rauti, a senator for Fratelli d’Italia and president of the Pino Rauti Study Center, described her father as a non-conformist thinker whose political insights anticipated modern issues such as migration, demographic crises, environmental concerns, and the critiques of liberal capitalism and globalization.
Speakers at the event, including Luciano Schifone and Bruno Esposito, characterized Rauti as an “unsettled intellectual” who sought to move beyond established political positions. Discussions touched upon his historical influence on the Italian Right, his warnings regarding the rise of “hyper-capitalism” following the fall of communism, and the cultural dimension of politics during the 1970s.
