Naples to host “Numero 10” theatrical production about Maradona

The theatrical production “Numero 10”, inspired by the life of Diego Armando Maradona, is set to debut at the Teatro Palapartenope in Naples on October 3, 2026. Produced by Coloriamo i Sogni and directed by Carolina Fanelli, the show aims to explore the human side of the football icon, focusing on his vulnerabilities, fears, and loneliness rather than just his sporting achievements.

The performance features Erasmo Genzini as Maradona, with Lina Sastri portraying his mother, Maurizio Casagrande as Ottavio Bianchi, and Giorgio Borghetti as a journalist. The production is described as a monumental experience that integrates theater, music, dance, and acrobatics. The narrative begins with the media frenzy following Maradona’s death before traveling back to his childhood in the impoverished neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and his subsequent journey through Naples.

Composer Phil Mer, also known as the drummer for the band Pooh, created the original instrumental score. The script was developed in collaboration with journalist Marino Bartoletti, who will also perform the final monologue. The production intends to use a cinematic approach with large-scale scenography and an ensemble of dancers and acrobats.
