Naples hosts third Pasquale Mandato Award for law enforcement

The third edition of the Pasquale Mandato National Award was held in Naples to honor the memory of the former deputy commander of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. Mandato, recognized by the state as a victim of duty, was assassinated by the Camorra on March 5, 1983, while commuting to work.

Organized by the National Association of Prison Police (ANPPE), the ceremony took place at the Unified Circle of the Southern Operational Forces Command of the Army. Defense Minister Guido Crosetto sent a message emphasizing that remembering those who died in the line of duty ensures their sacrifices continue to speak to future generations.

The event also recognized recent acts of bravery, including eight Carabinieri from the Campi Salentina and Brindisi units for their actions during a criminal incident on the Brindisi-Lecce road, and six cadets from the Military Academy of Modena for rescuing a motorist in Trieste.
