Naples inaugurates youth center in former Camorra property
A new educational and play center, known as ‘A Voce d’e Creature’, has been inaugurated in the Arenaccia district of Naples. The facility is housed in a building previously confiscated from the Camorra and has been repurposed to serve the local community.
The project was led by the foundation of Don Luigi Merola and received support from Intesa Sanpaolo through its Formula Program, as well as Cesvi. Funding was also provided by the Fondazione per la scuola italiana, Mediocredito Centrale, and BdM Banca, totaling approximately 50,000 euros for the transformation of the property. Additionally, over 100,000 euros were raised via the For Funding crowdfunding platform.
The inauguration was attended by Italy’s Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, and the Mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi. The initiative aims to combat school dropout rates and social marginalization by providing a safe space for education and youth development in challenging urban areas.
