Naples investigation probes Camorra infiltration in high-speed rail works
An investigation by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate has uncovered alleged infiltration by the Belforte clan into the construction sites of the Naples-Bari high-speed rail line. Prosecutors are examining links between entrepreneurs and organized crime figures, including Domenico Di Lillo, a suspected clan member known as ‘u’ pulusiello’.
Investigators have identified approximately 300,000 euros transferred to Egypt for the purchase of real estate, allegedly facilitated by Di Lillo acting as an intermediary between entrepreneur Dante Salzillo and an employee.
During preliminary hearings, prosecutors requested precautionary detention for several individuals, including businessmen Dante, Raffaele, and Angelo Salzillo, Giandomenico Colella, and Domenico Di Lillo. While the Salzillo brothers submitted defensive documentation and denied all charges, Colella and Di Lillo chose to undergo questioning. A total of 45 requests for precautionary measures are currently under evaluation by the judiciary.
