Naples launches Officina Costituzione association to promote constitutional debate
On 25 September, the new association Officina Costituzione will be presented in Naples at the Domus Ars cultural centre. The group aims to place the Italian Constitution at the centre of public debate, addressing fundamental rights, the relationship between liberty and power, institutional reforms and democratic participation.
The association was founded by Professor Giovanna De Minico of the University of Naples Federico II and veteran magistrate Pierluigi Picardi, former president of the Naples North Tribunal. De Minico explained that the initiative grew out of the collaborative work of magistrates during the recent referendums, while Picardi stressed that the Constitution should be treated as a living political project that involves all citizens regardless of political colour.
