Naples lawyer seeks justice for man wrongly convicted for brother's crime

A lawyer in Naples is calling for the intervention of the Italian Minister of Justice following the conviction of a young man who was sentenced to seven years in prison for a crime his brother allegedly committed.

Defense attorney Sergio Pisani claims the defendant, who has no prior criminal record and was bedridden due to a serious illness at the time of the incident, was wrongly identified. According to the defense, the brother confessed to being the actual perpetrator, stating he had met the complainant following an appointment made on the dating app Grindr.

Pisani asserts that mobile phone cell tower data places the brother at the scene of the incident during the time it occurred, but argues these technical proofs were not adequately valued during the legal proceedings. The defense maintains that the incident, originally reported as a robbery, was actually a fraudulent encounter following a planned sexual service.
