Italy: Multiple arrests reported for domestic violence and various crimes
Law enforcement agencies across Italy have conducted several operations resulting in numerous arrests for various offenses.
In cases of domestic violence, several individuals were apprehended. In Andria, a 35-year-old man was arrested for aggravated sexual violence, domestic abuse, and death threats against his partner. In Naples, a 44-year-old man was detained for mistreating his ex-wife, leaving threatening messages on a wall. In Seriate, a 31-year-old was jailed for extorting money from his mother to fund drug use. Other domestic incidents involved a 26-year-old in Varcaturo and a 37-year-old in Casalgrande.
Other criminal activities reported include a 52-year-old arrested for a home robbery using a “fake policeman” scam in the Sassuolo and Carpi areas. In Rozzano, a 23-year-old was arrested following a high-speed chase after allegedly inhaling nitrous oxide. Additionally, a 63-year-old was detained in Castelfranco di Sotto for dangerous driving during a police pursuit, and a 27-year-old in Cassolnovo was sent to prison for repeatedly violating house arrest monitored by an electronic bracelet.
Legally, the Corte di Cassazione recently reinforced that electronic monitoring is insufficient for defendants with a high propensity for violence, mandating incarceration to ensure public safety.
