Naples Named World’s Culinary Capital by TasteAtlas

TasteAtlas compiled a ranking of the world’s best culinary destinations using nearly half a million food‑lover ratings and assessments of over 17,000 cities. Italy’s Naples topped the list, being hailed as the city with the best food on the planet. The city is famed for its classic Margherita pizza, gnocchi, sfogliatella pastry, babà soaked in rum, struffoli honey‑ball sweets, flour‑free Caprese cake, graffe doughnuts and the delicate fiocchi di neve dessert made with ricotta, mascarpone and whipped cream. Other Italian cities also placed high – Milan was second, Bologna third and Florence fourth – reaffirming Italy’s reputation as a leading gastronomic hub. The top ten also featured global food capitals such as Mumbai, Rome, Paris, Vienna, Turin and Osaka, while the top thirty included Madrid, New York, Tokyo, Istanbul, Venice, Singapore, San Francisco, Chicago and Philadelphia. The ranking is particularly noteworthy for Slovenians and Croatians, as Naples is relatively close and easily reached by affordable flights.
