Naples: Pisapia & Gruppo Smeraldo to perform at Santa Maria La Nova
Gennaro Pisapia and Gruppo Smeraldo are set to perform a live concert at the Complesso Monumentale di Santa Maria La Nova in Naples on Saturday, August 29, at 20:00. The event is designed as a musical journey through the city's 19th and 20th-century Neapolitan melodies.
The ensemble features Giuseppe Carannante on clarinet, Michele Cordova on guitar, Alessandro Pignalosa on mandolin, Francopaolo Perreca on soprano sax and percussion, and Mario Carannante on cello and bass. The performance aims to blend traditional popular music with an elegant instrumental arrangement.
This concert is part of a broader project to promote Neapolitan musical heritage. A subsequent performance is scheduled for September 27, 2026. Additionally, a new theatrical production titled ‘Le melodie dell’anima napoletana – Racconti e segreti della canzone classica napoletana’ is in development, which will use scenography to explore the history and figures of classical Neapolitan song.
