Naples ramps up safety, hospitality and cleaning services for August tourist peak
Naples municipal administration has activated an inter‑assessorial task force for August, comprising tourism assessor Teresa Armato, green spaces assessor Vincenzo Santagada, infrastructure and mobility assessor Edoardo Cosenza and municipal police and legality assessor Antonio De Iesu, to ensure safety, hospitality and urban decor during the tourist high season.
An interactive map showing climate‑refuge locations was launched by digital transition assessor Valerio Di Pietro to help citizens and visitors find shade during heat waves (website www.rifugiclimaticinapoli.it).
The company ABC, under the permanent technical table coordinated by Ciro Turiello, installed about ten drinking fountains in key spots such as Piazza Municipio, Borgo Orefici, the entrance to the Capodimonte woods, Villa Comunale and the Mergellina ferry terminals.
Information points (Infopoint) remain open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, including Ferragosto, at four locations (Molo Angioino, Piazza del Gesù, Via Cesario Console, Via Morghen), and public automated toilets in Piazza del Gesù are open from 09:00 to 21:00.
ASIA Napoli is running the “Estate Pulita” cleaning campaign until 23 September, covering 208 streets, 757 stations and thousands of containers, while the local police schedule more than 4,600 monthly shifts with 1,600 agents and a dedicated 420‑officer contingent along the coast. Metro Line 1 night extensions are suspended on weekends.
