Naples selects Porta Capuana to host Christmas markets

The city of Naples has announced that the Porta Capuana area will host Christmas markets as part of an urban regeneration and territorial valorization plan led by Mayor Gaetano Manfredi. The initiative aims to extend the city's tourism and cultural offerings beyond the traditional historic center to include more diverse neighborhoods.

The Department of Tourism and Productive Activities has issued a public call for proposals targeting non-commercial entities and local associations. These organizations are invited to submit projects that combine local traditions, innovation, and community participation. The goal is to transform the area near San Francesco a Capuana into a focal point for festive activities, promoting social engagement and Neapolitan craftsmanship.

Teresa Armato, the Councilor for Tourism, stated that the project fulfills a commitment to the local neighborhood committees to revitalize the area through dedicated events. The markets are intended to serve as a symbolic gateway to the Neapolitan Christmas experience, blending urban redevelopment with social promotion and tourism.
