Naples stages 'Rivoluzione Carosone' tribute in Castel Nuovo courtyard

The performance “Rivoluzione Carosone” will be presented on Thursday, 30 July at 21:00 in the monumental courtyard of Castel Nuovo, Naples. Organized by the Association Airotse and funded by the Comune di Napoli, the show is part of the “Estate a Napoli 2026 – Teatro e danza al Castello” program.

Written and directed by Alessandro D’Auria with choreography by Franky Capuano, the production mixes live music, dance and theatre. It imagines a Naples where, after Renato Carosone’s sudden retirement, music was declared illegal and the city fell silent. A “Pseudo‑American” figure leads a group of clandestine musicians to revive Carosone’s songs, bringing characters such as Sarracino, Maruzzella and the “Caravan Petrol” tanker to life. The audience is invited to sing, clap and participate, turning the event into a collective celebration of Carosone’s legacy.
