Naples theater debuts ‘Numero 10’ exploring Diego Maradona’s life
The theatrical production ‘Numero 10’ made its debut at the Teatro Palapartenope in Naples, performing to a sold-out crowd. Directed by Carolina Fanelli and written in collaboration with Marino Bartoletti, the play aims to explore the human side of Diego Armando Maradona rather than focusing solely on his footballing achievements.
The narrative begins with the date of Maradona’s passing and moves backward through his life, from his origins in Villa Fiorito to his legendary years in Naples. The production focuses on his personal vulnerabilities, fears, loneliness, and his relationship with his mother, portrayed by Lina Sastri.
Erasmo Genzini stars as Maradona, supported by an ensemble of over thirty artists including Maurizio Casagrande and Giorgio Borghetti. The performance incorporates musical elements from Phil Mer and rap segments by Ivan Granatino, creating an immersive experience that includes stadium-style chants from the audience.
