Napoleon Solo completes sharp Belmont workout ahead of Breeders’ Cup
Napoleon Solo, the reigning Preakness Stakes winner, completed a sharp six-furlong workout at Belmont Park on Friday, clocking 1:11 in preparation for the upcoming Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland.
Trainer Chad Summers described the session as a stamina-building breeze. After starting behind two trainees from Rudy Rodriguez’s barn, the colt closed the gap in the stretch and maintained a strong gallop-out to a distance of one and one-eighth miles.
While the team has not finalized which championship race the horse will enter, Summers indicated a preference for the Breeders’ Cup Classic over the Dirt Mile, stating, “At this stage, I would be surprised if we didn't run in the Classic.”
