Napoleonic targets maiden Group 1 at Caulfield

The horse Napoleonic is set to compete in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes at Caulfield this Sunday. Trained by the partnership of John O’Shea and Tom Charlton, the four-year-old colt aims to secure his first Group 1 victory.

Napoleonic has recorded three wins from 12 starts. His previous experience in Melbourne includes a 4-1/4 length victory at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day last year. Due to ongoing renovations at the Moonee Valley circuit, the stable has targeted the 1200m contest at Caulfield instead.

Following a winter campaign in Brisbane, where he placed third in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000, Napoleonic last raced on August 8 at Randwick. He recently won a trial at Randwick on September 11. Trainer Tom Charlton noted that the Manikato Stakes has been a long-term objective for the horse.
