Naples pedestrian killed in hit-and-run involving motorcycle and van

A 58-year-old Sri Lankan man was killed on Saturday morning near the Ponte della Sanità in Naples after being struck by two vehicles. According to local police, the victim was crossing via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi when he was first hit by a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, who reportedly sustained head injuries during the collision, fled the scene without providing aid.

Shortly after the initial impact, the man was struck a second time by a van, which also failed to stop. Emergency medical services arrived quickly but could only confirm the man's death.

Following an investigation involving surveillance footage and witness testimony, police identified and placed the 58-year-old motorcyclist under house arrest. The driver of the van remains unidentified as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
