Napoli agrees loan deal for Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile

Napoli has reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign French defender Benoit Badiashile on a season-long loan. The deal includes a loan fee of approximately €3 million, plus an additional €1 million in potential bonuses, and an option to purchase the player permanently for €27 million.

Napoli sought to bolster its defense following several injury setbacks, including issues for Alessandro Buongiorno, Sam Beukema, and Luca Marianucci. The move allows Napoli to evaluate Badiashile’s fitness and performance before committing to a permanent transfer. The club will also cover his full salary during the loan period.

Badiashile, 25, joined Chelsea from Monaco in early 2023 but struggled to secure a consistent starting role. The transfer is seen as a way for Chelsea to reduce their squad size while providing Napoli manager Massimiliano Allegri with much-needed defensive depth.
