Napoli says Kevin De Bruyne stays under contract despite transfer rumours

Napoli’s sporting director Giovanni Manna reiterated that Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne remains under contract with the club and will report to the pre‑season camp in Castel di Sangro on 5 August. Manna dismissed any suggestion that De Bruyne could decide his own future, stating “Kevin is a player of Napoli, the club decides what happens.”

The club confirmed that De Bruyne, who signed a two‑year deal with an option for a third year (running to 2027), will also attend Napoli’s centenary celebration in Piazza del Plebiscito on 1 August, cutting short his summer break. His earlier critical comments about former manager Antonio Conte were noted, but the club said there is no ongoing dispute.

Media reports have floated the possibility of De Bruyne being placed on the transfer market, mentioning interest from Turkish clubs, Saudi Arabia and MLS, but Napoli publicly maintains that no decision has been taken and that the player is still a key part of the project. Similar speculation surrounds teammate Romelu Lukaku, who is also expected to appear at the centenary event.
