Napoli defeats Bologna 1–0 behind Favasuli assist

Napoli secured a 1–0 home victory against Bologna, marking their first win since the season opener against Genoa. The decisive moment came when 22-year-old Costantino Favasuli entered the match as a substitute for Matteo Politano, providing the assist for Stanislav Lobotka’s winning goal.

Favasuli, who joined Napoli from Catanzaro for €7.5 million, has primarily been utilized in defensive roles such as fullback or wingback. However, his performance on the right flank against Bologna demonstrated an attacking intensity and instinct that has been missing from Napoli’s recent offensive phases.

Following this breakthrough and a recent Champions League debut against Arsenal, Napoli manager Max Allegri faces the prospect of integrating Favasuli more deeply into the starting lineup. The team will next face Fiorentina, the club where Favasuli developed in his youth academy, ahead of a three-week international break.
