Napoli football club proposes 70,000‑seat stadium on former Q8 refinery

President Aurelio De Laurentiis and CEO Andrea Chiavelli revealed plans for a new Napoli stadium that would hold 70,000 spectators and include 120 sky‑boxes. The project targets the former Q8 refinery site in the Q8 area of the city, where remediation work is already underway and is expected to finish by late 2027 or early 2028.

A letter of intent has been signed with Q8 Italia, confirming both parties’ intent to pursue the development. The estimated cost of the stadium and associated infrastructure is around €1 billion. The plan also foresees improvements to transport links, such as upgrades to the nearby A3 Napoli‑Salerno highway interchange, a new train station, and a €37 million Bus Rapid Transit line connecting Piazza Garibaldi with the Ospedale del Mare.

The next step involves a meeting between the Naples municipal administration and Q8 executives to obtain the necessary approvals for the design phase. If realised, the venue would place Napoli among Europe’s largest football stadia and provide a modern corporate hospitality offering.
