Napoli secures midfielder Antonio Vergara until 2031, with extensions possible to 2034

Napoli and player agent Mario Giuffredi have reached a definitive agreement to renew midfielder Antonio Vergara’s contract. The deal runs until 2031 and includes season‑by‑season options that could extend the tie to 2034, alongside a salary increase reflecting his rising role in the squad.

The renewal was confirmed after a summit at the Hotel De Bonart attended by president Aurelio De Laurentis, sporting director Giovanni Manna and the player’s representative. Napoli rejected offers from Como and Atalanta, each reportedly prepared to spend around €25 million, choosing instead to lock the young talent into the club’s long‑term project. Coach Massimiliano Allegri praised Vergara’s versatility, noting his capacity to play as a trequartista or a mezzala.

The same meeting also addressed the future of captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, with plans to extend his contract to 2029. Other transfer targets discussed included Costantino Favasuli (Catanzaro) and Niccolò Fortini (Fiorentina), but the primary outcome was the confirmed long‑term commitment to Vergara.
