SSC Napoli starts 2026/27 pre-season with medical tests and summer friendlies
SSC Napoli has officially opened preparations for the 2026/27 season. At the club's training centre in Castel Volturno, two groups of players completed mandatory medical examinations and athletic tests. The first group included Beukema, Contini, Giovane, Gutierrez, Rafa Marín, Lindström, Mazzocchi, Lucca, Meret, Milinković‑Savić and Vergara; the second group featured Alisson Santos, Alessandro Buongiorno, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Rasmus Højlund, Stanislav Lobotka, Billy Gilmour, David Neres, Amir Rrahmani, André‑Frank Zambo Anguissa, Matteo Politano and Leonardo Spinazzola. The squad will next move to Dimaro‑Folgarida for its traditional trentino camp.
During the pre‑season the club announced a series of pay‑per‑view friendlies in July‑August against Arezzo, Carrarese, Osasuna, Celta de Vigo and Aris Thessaloniki, with tickets priced at €9.99 per match on DAZN, Sky Primafila and OneFootball. Meanwhile the transfer market remains quiet; manager Massimiliano Allegri has signalled no new arrivals yet, highlighting the need to trim a 47‑player roster before any acquisitions, with Argentine winger Exequiel Zeballos mentioned as a potential target pending squad reductions.
In staff news, long‑time medical director Dr Raffaele Canonico departs after 22 years and is succeeded by former deputy Gennaro De Luca. Additionally, Napoli loaned teenage goalkeeper Mathias Ferrante to Ospitaletto, and midfielder Samuele Liberali secured a contract extension before moving on loan to Sassuolo.
