Napoli's infrastructure plans and coaching quest dominate Italian football agenda

Minister for Sport Andrea Abodi met FIGC president Giovanni Malagò to discuss reforms and set priorities for Italian football. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is advancing major infrastructure projects, including a new sports centre in Monterusciello (Pozzuoli) and a new stadium, backed by PNRR funds and subject to public‑private concessions. Preparations are also under way for Napoli’s centenary celebrations, with a commemorative jersey launch on 6 July and a public event in Piazza del Plebiscito slated for 1 August.

The club is negotiating the hiring of Massimiliano Allegri as head coach; talks with Milan over his contract termination are ongoing, with Napoli awaiting a resolution. Lower‑league club Taranto emphasised the need for a stable stadium to progress. Various clubs, including Juventus, Lazio, Milan and Napoli, are also tracking striker Alexander Sörloth’s future.
