Napoli's Maradona Stadium Redevelopment Advances

The Naples municipal administration unveiled a comprehensive redesign of the Diego Armando Maradona stadium. Councilor Nino Simeone, who chairs the transport and public works commission, highlighted that the plan adds 63,000 seats, expands space in the popular stands and curves, and includes more than 600 seats for people with disabilities, creating a modern, functional and inclusive venue. He said the project reflects years of effort and will be officially approved in October.

Financial analysts note that the core issue remains securing the capital required for a multi‑hundred‑million‑euro investment. They argue that while the location and design are settled, Napoli’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis and the club must still demonstrate sustainable financing to avoid over‑leveraging the club’s balance sheet.
