Nara Prefecture to host wood usage and tree planting festivals
Nara Prefecture will host the ‘Nara Wood Usage Festa 2026’ and a commemorative event for the ‘77th National Tree Planting Festival’ at Aeon Mall Yamato Koriyama. The festivities are scheduled for September 20, 2026, and October 3–4, 2026.
The Wood Usage Festa aims to promote the use of Nara-produced timber, coinciding with the prefecture’s wood usage promotion month in October. Activities include log cutting, chopstick making, and play areas featuring wooden toys and equipment. The event will also feature a woodworking exhibition by local students.
The commemorative event for the 77th National Tree Planting Festival celebrates the upcoming main festival to be held at Heijo Palace Site Historical Park on June 6, 2027. This marks the second time Nara has hosted the national festival in 46 years. Event activities include acorn planting experiences and novelty distributions.
