Narana Coissoró, former CDS parliamentary leader, dies at 94
Narana Coissoró, a prominent historical figure and former parliamentary leader of the CDS-PP, has died at the age of 94. The CDS party confirmed the news, describing him as a protagonist in the struggle for democracy, liberty, and human dignity.
Born in Goa, India, during Portuguese administration, Coissoró moved to Portugal at age 17 to study law at the University of Coimbra. His political career was shaped by the transition from the Estado Novo dictatorship to democracy following the April 25 revolution. One of his final public appearances occurred in 2024, marking the CDS party's return to the Assembly of the Republic after a two-year absence.
