Narasaraopet thief returns Rs 19 lakh in cash following gold robbery
In Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh, a theft involving Rs 20 lakh in cash and 317 grams of gold jewellery has taken an unusual turn. After the victims, Adi Narayan Reddy and Koteswaramma, discovered their home had been broken into, a bag was found outside their residence containing Rs 19 lakh in cash and a handwritten note.
The note, reportedly from the thief, stated that the money was being returned but did not address the missing gold. The letter also included a request for the family not to use ‘anjanam’—a term associated with traditional beliefs in mantras or sorcery used to identify criminals—to track the perpetrators. Local police are investigating the incident and examining whether the thieves were known to the family.
