Narcisa Lecușanu documentary explores life beyond handball

A new documentary titled ‘Narcisa – Against All Odds’ (or ‘Narcisa – Dincolo de medalii’) will premiere on the VOYO platform starting October 23. The production follows the life of former handball champion Narcisa Lecușanu, tracing her journey from her childhood in Bacău to her international sporting success.

Beyond her athletic achievements, including a silver medal with the Romanian national team at the 2005 World Championship, the film highlights personal challenges and resilience. The documentary covers her upbringing in a family of five children and a dramatic childhood incident where she survived a train accident.

Lecușanu, who is a member of the IHF Executive Committee, stated that she hopes the film serves as a source of inspiration for people facing their own obstacles. She emphasized that the story is intended to be about more than just handball, focusing instead on the sacrifices, discipline, and perseverance required to pursue dreams.
