Dominican Republic police dismantle robbery ring and pursue ammunition theft case

Dominican authorities have dismantled a criminal organization responsible for a series of robberies targeting commercial establishments, businesses, and financial entities across various regions, including La Vega, Higüey, and Puerto Plata. The group, allegedly led by Osiris Rafael Delgado Ceballo, also known as ‘La Puerquita’, is accused of stealing approximately RD$14.3 million and US$4,334 through methods involving breaking into premises. Seven members have been arrested, while six others remain at large.

In a separate high-profile case known as Operation Pandora, Colonel Narciso Antonio Féliz Romero, the former head of the National Police Armory, will remain in preventive detention. He is accused of leading a corruption network that misappropriated thousands of rounds of ammunition and other military equipment, causing an estimated loss of over RD$92 million to the state. The stolen materials were allegedly intended for sale to gangs in Haiti.

Additionally, law enforcement efforts in the eastern region have resulted in the arrest of 113 individuals and the seizure of over 19,000 grams of narcotics during widespread anti-drug operations in La Romana, La Altagracia, and El Seibo.
