Narcotics Control Bureau uncovers two heroin smuggling routes into Jammu and Kashmir

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jammu Zonal Unit has uncovered two major heroin smuggling routes into Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the seizure of 6.92 kg of the drug through a series of intelligence-led operations.

One route involves direct smuggling from Pakistan through the Uri sector in the Baramulla district. In a previous operation, officials seized 5.16 kg of heroin and tracked the shipment from the border to Leh, where a supplier was arrested.

A second, indirect route was identified moving through Punjab. During a recent operation on September 3, the NCB intercepted a passenger bus in Samba, recovering 522g of heroin from a resident of Pulwama. Subsequent investigations traced the consignment to Ludhiana, Punjab, where an additional 197g was seized.

Additional raids targeting vulnerable clusters in the Jammu-Samba belt recovered 438g and 603g of heroin. The NCB stated it is working to dismantle the entire network by tracing financial trails and identifying all individuals involved in the supply, transport, and distribution of the narcotics.
