Nardodipace, Italy: 372 Trees Illegally Cut on Monte Palella, Land Seized and €21,000 Fine Imposed
In the municipality of Nardodipace (province of Vibo Valentia), Carabinieri Forestali seized a communal area on Monte Palella after detecting the illegal felling of 372 high‑fust trees, primarily pine and holm oak. The cutting was carried out without the required regional forest permit and landscape authorization, violating Calabria’s forest regulation No. 4/2024 and the national code for cultural and landscape heritage.
The authorities imposed an administrative sanction of €21,000 for the breach of the regional forest code. No criminal convictions have been recorded yet; personal responsibility will be assessed by the judicial authorities based on the investigation’s findings.
