Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman Invited to BRICS Summit Outreach Session in New Delhi
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has formally invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to attend the outreach session of the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled for 12–13 September 2026 in New Delhi. The invitation, conveyed in a diplomatic note on 14 July, was received by Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and forwarded to the Prime Minister’s office for a decision.
Bangladesh, currently chairing the regional BIMSTEC group and set to host the BIMSTEC summit in Dhaka in 2027, sees the BRICS outreach as a step toward possible future membership, a goal supported by China and Russia.
