PM Modi meets Team India following historic WorldSkills Shanghai performance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with representatives of Team India following their performance at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai. India achieved its best-ever ranking at the event, finishing 10th globally with six silver medals and 20 Medals for Excellence. This marks an improvement from the 13th-place finish in 2024.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister emphasized that practical skills are as vital as academic degrees and urged youth to continuously upgrade their capabilities to adapt to emerging technologies. He stated that skill training institutions are as important as the IITs and IIMs, aiming to establish India as a global hub for skilled human resources.

In a separate engagement at the National Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development, the Prime Minister called for transforming Anganwadi Centres into hubs of community participation. He suggested that universities adopt nearby centres for social-impact studies and encouraged coordinated efforts between the Centre and States to improve nutrition, child protection, and women’s safety.
