India: PM Modi unveils ‘Shakti ki Saptadhara’ development roadmap
During his 13th Independence Day address at the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined a strategic roadmap titled ‘Shakti ki Saptadhara’ to drive India toward becoming a developed and self-reliant nation. The plan identifies seven key sectors for growth and employment, with manufacturing, agriculture and food production, and technology and innovation (including AI and robotics) serving as primary pillars.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need for Indian MSMEs to meet international quality standards to compete globally in sectors like textiles, machinery, and pharmaceuticals. He also highlighted the importance of leveraging traditional products such as millets and spices to boost the agri-tech and food processing industries.
In terms of speech duration, Modi’s address lasted 75 minutes, making it his shortest speech in the last four years. Separately, in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav marked the occasion by declaring 2027 as the ‘Year of Youth’ during a state-level ceremony at the Lal Parade Ground.
