Narendra Modi to address UN General Assembly in September

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address world leaders during the high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September. According to a preliminary schedule, his address is slated for the afternoon session on September 25.

The 81st session of the General Assembly will be presided over by Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman. The theme for this session is ‘Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all’.

While the formal addresses take place at the podium, significant diplomatic activity is expected to occur during informal sideline meetings between leaders. The high-level week is set to begin on September 22, with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expected to be the first speaker, followed by US President Donald Trump. The schedule indicates that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the meeting.
