Narendra Modi urges IFS trainees to expand traditional diplomacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed trainee officers of the 2025 batch of the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) at ‘Seva Teerth’. He urged the young diplomats to expand the traditional scope of diplomacy by engaging meaningfully with local communities and the Indian diaspora.

Modi emphasized the importance of identifying new investment opportunities to boost India’s economic participation globally. He also called for making Indian missions more technology-driven and citizen-centric, specifically highlighting the need to strengthen their digital presence and ensure smooth, efficient consular services.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister encouraged officers to showcase India’s civilizational heritage, culture, and tourism potential to the world. He advised them to build strong grassroots connections in their respective postings to deepen relations beyond just government and institutional levels.
