Narendra Modi urges youth development at IIT Delhi as foreign trip costs are disclosed

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 57th convocation at IIT Delhi, where he distributed scholarships to over 3,000 undergraduate and 587 PhD students. During his speech, he called upon the younger generation to contribute actively toward building a developed India. He highlighted government initiatives in sectors such as space, semiconductors, drones, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing, noting that the space sector has been opened to private participation.

To bolster innovation, the government has established the National Research Foundation and allocated 1 lakh crore rupees for research. Modi emphasized that the youth's contributions will be vital by the time they reach age 30.

Separately, the Ministry of External Affairs informed the Rajya Sabha that at least ₹557.51 crore has been spent on Prime Minister Modi's foreign trips between 2021 and 2026. The data includes high-cost visits to France (₹25.59 crore in February 2025), Brazil (₹17.72 crore in July 2025), and the United States (₹16.54 crore in February 2025). The Ministry stated these visits are essential for strengthening international relations and deepening partnerships in technology, trade, security, and energy.
