Narges Mohammadi publishes memoirs detailing Iranian prison abuses
Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi has released her memoirs, titled ‘Une femme ne renonce jamais’ (A Woman Never Gives Up), published by Robert Laffont in France. The book details her decades of activism against the Islamic Republic of Iran, including her experiences with the death penalty, strict dress codes, and physical abuse. Mohammadi, who has spent over 44 years in prison, describes receiving 154 lashes and enduring 161 days of solitary confinement during her various periods of detention.
Mohammadi began writing the text in Persian approximately ten years ago while incarcerated. The manuscript was released in fragments from Iran to be assembled and translated into English by the Narges Foundation in Paris. Currently, she remains under house arrest in Tehran following a release on bail for health reasons in May.
