Narges Mohammadi releases memoir on imprisonment and family separation
Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has released a new memoir titled ‘A Woman Never Stops Fighting’, in which she details the emotional toll of her long-term imprisonment and separation from her family.
In the book, Mohammadi reflects on the July 2015 departure of her twin children, Kiana and Ali, who moved to Paris for their safety while she remained incarcerated in Tehran’s Evin prison. She describes the experience as feeling as though a ‘vast void had opened’ inside her, noting the difficulty of balancing her role as a mother with the necessity of ensuring her children’s safety from the political instability in Iran.
Mohammadi, 54, was released from prison on health grounds in May. Her memoir covers her experiences during the 2022 ‘Woman, Life, Freedom’ protests and her ongoing struggle as a human rights campaigner.
