Nariño Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar criticized by former senator

Former Senator Samuel Alberto Escrucería has issued sharp criticisms against the administration of Nariño Governor Luis Alfonso Escobar, alleging a lack of effective action and leadership.

Escrucería stated that despite the region's support for both the Governor and former President Gustavo Petro under the Pacto Histórico banner, the department has seen a decline in key areas. He cited rising crime, insecurity, poor road conditions, and deficiencies in health and education services as primary concerns. Additionally, he noted an increase in unemployment and a reduction in agricultural credit for farmers and small businesses.

The former legislator also highlighted a disconnect between the regional and national governments, suggesting that the Governor's attitude has created a gap that hinders cooperation. He addressed the Governor's claims regarding a lack of national funding, noting that the central government has responded by urging better execution of existing resources rather than mere political maneuvering.
